Besides the good fortune, she also received cares and concerns from the volunteers of "Dazhong Taxi". These volunteers promised to pick up and drop off her free of charge between Jiao Tong University where she studied and her home during the period of the treatment. On the afternoon of March 22, at the gate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xing Yi got on a Dazhong taxi waiting for her in high spirits. 　　In September 1999, Xing Yi was honorably admitted to the noted Shanghai Jiao Tong University, while in February 2001, i.e., the winter vocation in her sophomore year, a bolt from the blue hit her-she was diagnosed leukaemia. Through these activities, the healthy and the disabled will be further united to welcome a brighter tomorrow together. 　Mar. 21, 2002 　Sheng Xingyi Awarded "Citizen with Brave Deed" 　　On Mar. 10, 2002, Sheng Xingyi from the No. 7 branch of "Dazhong Taxi" was selected out as the citizen with brave deed of March. On Mar. 12, deputy director-general Wang Jinlin and director of the guarding department Zhu Jiayu from the sub-bureau of Public Transportation of Public Security Bureau came to "Dazhong Transportation" to award Sheng Xingyi certificate and prize. Deputy party committee secretary of "Dazhong Transportation" Yuan Limin, deputy party committee secretary of "Dazhong Taxi" Dong Jiyuan and officials from the security department of the headquarters took part in the meeting and rewarded Sheng Xingyi 1,000 yuan on behalf of the group. 　　Sheng Xingyi was honorably praised for his bravery in fighting against the criminal acts in the society. It was 8 o'clock at the night of Feb. 26, a policeman caught sight of a stealing but failed to subdue the thief single-handedly. At the emergent moment, Dazhong driver Sheng Xingyi charged direct to the thief regardless of his own safety. With his courage, the suspect was caught on the spot finally. 　Mar. 21, 2002 　"Dazhong Transportation" Holding an Annual Meeting on Safety Driving 　　On Mar. 10, 2002, a working team of safety driving in "Dazhong Transportation" held a two-day meeting on safety driving of the year 2002. Nearly 50 persons, including assistant general managers of the group Zhao Weilun and Xu Yimin, security department of the headquarters, safety service department of "Dazhong Taxi", chief persons in charge of the driving units and safety supervisors, attended the meeting. And leaders from Traffic Police Station, Urban Transportation Bureau and Dazhong Insurance Co. were also presented at the meeting. 　　During the 4-hour-training, Mr. Xue introduced many advanced and practical ideas and views into the drivers, such as "breakthrough of the limitation for self-realization", "establishing high and sound targets in life", and "doing things in the right way and doing the right things". A serious of positive thinking modes and scientific cognition means were spread in the minds of all the trainees. The training adopted the interactive method, interweaving with some seemingly simple but meaningful games and questions. All the attendees were highly motivated and the environment of the conference hall was warm and lively. 　　This large-scaled training aimed at guiding the employees to set up correct and scientific thought and ideas, establish the core value of the enterprise and lay a sound foundation for the building of a world-class staff team. 　Mar. 21, 2002 　"Dazhong Int'l Forwarding & Trans" and "Dazhong Container Traffic" 　　Passed the ISO 9001 Authentication 　　Dazhong Int'l Forwarding & Trans Co. and Dazhong Container Traffic Co. Ltd. passed the ISO9001: 2000 edition of the quality system authentication. 　　The certification work started from June 2001, lasting a total of 6 months, which covered the successive periods of system planning, document system compiling, trial operation of the system, internal examination, etc. Altogether 25 series of documents were compiled to record the whole process of the quality management in the companies. In promoting the system, each employee of both companies must bear in mind the quality principles and targets of the companies and the post responsibility for every individual. The ultimate purpose was that all the operation and service processes must meet the needs of customers. 　　The activity of quality authentication further strengthened the management basis in the company, standardized the operating process and set up a whole series of supervision mechanism, all of these were sure to be beneficial to the long-term and healthy development of the company. 　Mar. 15, 2002 　Going Hand in Hand with the Disabled, Creating Social Civilization Together 　　On the night of Feb. 27, 2002, the youth league of "Pudong Dazhong Public Transportation", the traffic policemen from the Oriental Pearl Brigade and the Association for the Handicapped of Meiyuan Neighborhood co-organized a party in Union Mansion. And exciting and happy hours were shared among every attendee. 　　Although the disabled invited to the party were physically handicapped, their passion and versatility impressed everyone present. High-ranking officials of Dazhong, including chairwoman of the board and secretary of the party committee Zhou Xiuhua, deputy party committee secretary Yuan Limin, heroes and heroines in the stories and worker representatives attended the ceremony. A symposium was held on the topic of "Carrying Forward Dazhong Culture and Enhancing Dazhong Brand". After the meeting, copies of Dazhong Story were distributed to representatives from "Dazhong Taxi", "Dazhong Car Leasing", "Dazhong Auto Service", "Dazhong Bus" and "Pudong Dazhong Public Transportation". Motivated and spurred by the motto of Dazhong -"All for the Community" and the essence in Dazhong Story , staff of the company promise to dedicated themselves to the great cause of Dazhong. 　Feb. 12, 2002 　Dazhong Spring Festival Charity Activities 　　On the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar, Dazhong Transportation Group Co., Ltd. organized a charity transportation, donating a whole day's turnover of 1,000 taxies-totaling 500,000 yuan to Shanghai Charity Foundation. This activity at the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar is one of Dazhong's traditions which has already been kept for several years. All of the donation will be given to the poor and the needy arranged by Shanghai Charity Foundation. General manager of Dazhong, Yang Guoping expressed that 'serving the community and the society' is our unshirkable duty. 　Feb. 12, 2002 　Picking Up New-born Babies and Their Mothers For Free 　　In the early morning of the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar, Dazhong taxis were waiting at the gate of hospital for picking up new-born babies and their mothers for free. Dazhong has kept this tradition for a decade. Numerous families of new-born babies have got the luck till now. 　Feb. 12, 2002 　More Valuable Services Provided by Dazhong Bus 　　At the beginning of the new year, Dazhong Bus Company pushed ahead with a new plan-providing passengers with more valuable services charged at the same ticket price (1 yuan). The whole stuff of the company are actively involved in this activity, "If I were the passenger, what services do I expect for?", thinking from the passenger's angle, the company spares no efforts to improve its services. Party members and officials took the lead to clean the operation vehicles and created a bright and clear department environment for the passengers. Detergents were bought spontaneously by drivers and conductors to remove the vapour on the wind screen of the buses, especially the air-conditioned buses. Issues like how to maintain fresh air in the bus departments of the air-conditioned buses are discussed and put onto the agenda to be solved. 　Feb. 12, 2002 　Adoption of New Management Machine for Public Transportation 　　All the mini-buses of line 943 of Shanghai Dazhong Bus Company were changed into the new 9- meter and 12-meter luxurious air-conditioned Kinglong buses. In the meanwhile, the management information system for public transportation operation-management machine for public transportation has been installed in each mini-bus. This machine can have a through supervision for the operation, beeping in the cases of over-speed driving and unsafe condition of bus doors. This is unparalleled in the public transportation field of mainland China.
