In the spirit of the guidance on the specialized administration of the city's public transport market proposed by Shanghai Municipality, Shanghai Jiading Dazhong Taxi Co. Ltd., one of the first group of regional taxi companies, was established on April 30. The company is co-founded by "Dazhong Transportation" and Jiading Shenjiang Auto Service Society, and Dazhong holds 30% of the share capital.

Jiading Dazhong uses '99 Santana models as taxis, the first batch of 390 units have been put into operation. On both sides of the car doors are painted the characters of "Jiading". The start-up rental fee is 8 yuan covering 3 kilometers, and 2 yuan charged every additional mile. During the trial operation, the region of operation covers the county area out of the Outer Ring.

In recent years, the public transportation of the city has been developed rapidly, the managerial and service standards have reached a new height. Yet the non-licensed operation vehicles in the suburban area also existed. Especially the large amount of non-licensed operating mini-buses posed a serious threat to the market order for the passenger transport and gave a negative impact on the stability of the public transportation industry. The establishment of the regional taxi companies like Jiading Dazhong will be beneficial to the regulation and normalization of the suburban market for passenger transport and the healthy development of the suburban areas.
